MGCI Math Club is run by mathematicians, graphic designers, problem-setters, and managers—all of whom are high school students at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute. We aim to cultivate passion for math by providing enriching experiences in an inclusive space. We run weekly lectures on topics from topology to game theory, host fun and accessible math activities for a wider audience, and organize teams for competitions, serving a school with more than 2000 students. We also run the Marc Garneau Math Tournament.
Marc Garneau CI is known for its prolific output of aspiring mathematicians, scientists, and engineers. In the past 10 years alone, we have had:
three International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) team members
five European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) team members
five International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) team members
and numerous United States of America (USAMO) and Canadian Mathematical Olympiad (CMO) qualifiers
All of the people mentioned above were or currently are math club executives.
